Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the Adaptations

This Multimedia Presentation will offer verbal, aural, and visual materials from which to begin your main research project for the class.  You have the choice to write a traditional paper and prepare a presentation individually or write an individual paper and create a collaborative PowerPoint presentation with a group of 2-4 students.  (All students will fulfill an oral presentation requirement with this project and each project will also include a formal written component from each individual student.)

 
Overview: The assignment will be broken into five segments:

 
1. Reading the text of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and discussing the novel in class.

2. Viewing the multimedia presentation which includes text files, music files, and video clips from film adaptations.

3. Doing additional research and preparing a written proposal for the term project, either as an individual or as one member of a group of 2-4 students.
March 16 - 30

4. Preparing the project:
  • a traditional 7-10 page research paper as an individual student, or
  • a PowerPoint presentation as a part of a group. Each student in the group will also prepare a 3-5 page written report. 
Final Draft Due May 13

5. Preparing a 5-25 minute Oral Presentation for the class to be given during the last three weeks of the semester. Each student in the PowerPoint groups must take part in at least 5 minutes of the presentation.
