Choice #1: Traditional Research Paper:
Write a 5-7 page research paper, following MLA Format, regarding some aspect of an approved topic of your choice relating in some way to one of the assignments in the course outline.  Choose a major theme, character, scene, or stylistic device.  It is important that your topic is narrow enough for you to delve deeply into various aspects of the fiction.  Sources should include formal literary criticism and must include both hard text and online sources.
In order to narrow down your topic as much as possible, please use the example of the Video page of this web presentation.  You may use a topic similar to the ones presented, or you may develop a topic of your own.  Either way, your Proposal should indicate your topic.  The paper will be assessed according to the English Department Writing Assessment Rubric (EDWAR).
