Airports and Ground Transportation

The closest airport to the Anaheim/Orange Hilton and Chapman University's campus is Santa Ana Airport (SNA, also known as Orange County or John Wayne).  From there you can take a Blue or Super Shuttle for $10 each way.  A cab costs approximately $25.  Long Beach Airport (LGB) is the next closest, and Los Angeles Airport (LAX) the next.  The Shuttle costs $16 from LAX.  Cabs from LAX to Orange are very expensive, but become increasingly reasonable if you can share them.

Relatively inexpensive public transportation from LAX is also available, though it's a little complicated.  You can take the "Fly Away" bus from LAX to Union Station ($7) in Los Angeles, where you can then take the Metro Link light rail to Orange Station - five blocks from Chapman campus and about a mile from the hotel.  You'll need to travel on the Orange line, and be sure to check when it's running.  It's a commuter line, so it runs mornings and afternoons.  There are different schedules for weekdays and weekends.

As I noted in an email, Liz discovered a Disney Express shuttle from both LAX and SNA.  Because the conference hotel is quite close to Disneyland, you can take the Disneyland Resort Express - a bus that runs every hour between the airport and hotels in that area. You can make reservations in advance, if you like, or you can just board the bus at the airport without reservations.  (This might be the best way to travel from LAX to the hotel.)

Ontario Airport (ONT) is another possibility, and it has Super Shuttle service to our hotel.  If you're renting a car, you can even fly in to San Diego (SAN).

Local Restaurants

All conference events will take place on Chapman's campus, which is near several restaurants.  Here are some suggestions:

For good Mexican food, try Taco Adobe, on Lemon Street, just south of Chapman Avenue, and Gabby's, on Glassell (south of the Orange Circle, on the east side).  For Cuban and Spanish food, try Felix's, on the southwest corner of the Circle.
BybLos Café Mediterranean, also off the Circle on Chapman Avenue, and Papa Hassan's, just north of campus on Glassell, offer good Lebanese food. The Citrus City Grill, on Glassell north of the Circle, serves standard American food and has a nice bar.  And the Haven Gastropub just opened, with good food and a great beer selection.  (Also on Glassell, south of the Circle.)
