the Authors
Bruce Dehning is an Associate
Professor of Accounting Information Systems in the Burra School of Accounting
and Finance at Chapman University. He holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the
Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado. Dr. Dehning was awarded
the Wang-Fradkin Professorship at Chapman University in 2004. He was named a
Fulbright Scholar to teach in the Czech Republic in 2005, and in 2010 received
a commemorative medal for merits towards the development of the Faculty of
Management and Economics at Tomas Bata University in Zlin, Czech Republic.
Professor Dehning was named Alpha Kappa Psi faculty member of the year in 2010.
He served as Associate Dean of the Argyros School 2008-2011, 2017, and
2021-2023. Bruce served as President of the Information Systems Section of the
American Accounting Association from 2007 to 2008, as an Associate Editor at
the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems from 2007 to 2010,
and an editor of the Journal of Information Systems in 2014-2015 and 2020-2023.
He currently sits on the editorial and review boards of the Journal of
Information Systems and the International Journal of Accounting Information
Systems. He has presented papers at numerous prestigious national and
international conferences, and his research has been published in MIS Quarterly,
Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Operations Management, Journal
of Information Systems, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, International
Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Information and Management, and
other academic journals. His research has been cited more than 4,000 times, and
in 2006 and 2013 he received the American Accounting Association Information
Systems Section Notable Contributions to the Literature Award along with Vern
Richardson. Outside of academia Dr. Dehning spent time in the insurance
industry and as an accounting information systems consultant for small
businesses.
Theophanis C.
Stratopoulos is the PwC Chair Professor at the School of Accounting and
Finance (SAF) at the University of Waterloo. Theo’s teaching and research focus
is on financial performance and competitive implications of IT-enabled business
strategies and emerging technologies. Currently, he is working on projects
related to emerging technology adoption, COVID-19-related firm disclosures,
business models for paid Q&A platforms, blockchain, AI/ML implications for
the accounting profession, and IT budgets. Prof. Stratopoulos’ research has
been published in The Accounting Review, Journal of Management Information
Systems, Communications of the ACM, Journal of Information Systems, Information
& Management, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Accounting Horizons,
and International Journal of Accounting Information Systems. He has worked
(consulted) on data analytics projects and delivered workshops to professionals
and academics on data analytics and emerging technologies. He has authored
several monographs/articles (available on SSRN)
on data analytics, blockchain, and IT business value. Prof. Stratopoulos is a
member of the CPA Canada - Audit Data Analytics committee, Associate Editor for
the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, and past Senior Editor
for the Journal of Information Systems.
Partha
Mohapatra is a distinguished faculty member at California State University,
Sacramento and Senior Research Fellow at CIAS Corvinus University, Budapest.
Dr. Mohapatra has made significant contributions to both academia and the
broader field of his expertise. With a rich academic background and an
unwavering commitment to research and teaching, Professor Mohapatra has become
a respected authority in his discipline. His work is characterized by a deep
analytical approach and a passion for uncovering new insights, which has led to
numerous publications in prestigious journals and presentations at
international conferences. As an educator, Professor Mohapatra is known for his
engaging lectures and his ability to inspire students to think critically and
creatively. In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Mohapatra
actively collaborates with industry professionals and fellow researchers,
bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. His
dedication to fostering a collaborative learning environment and his mentorship

and respect. Outside the classroom, Professor Mohapatra is involved in several
