This page is about 7 years old.  Since its last update I’ve completed a Ph.D.

at UCI and am currently an adjunct assistant professor at Chapman.

My faculty page is here.

My wife, Jackie, has also started a business: Forever Linens Chair Covers

Hi!  My name is Erik Linstead, and I'm an alumnus of Chapman's Department
of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics.  I began my studies at Chapman
in August of 1998, and graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer
Science and Computer Information Systems in May of 2001.  After Chapman,
I spent almost 2 years at Stanford University working on my Master of Science
degree in Computer Science (emphasis in database systems).  I finished my MS
in March 2003.  I've moved back to Southern California, and now I'm currently
looking for a job that will put my education to good use.

Despite my need to find an industry job to pay back student loans, I have always
been an academic at heart, and plan to make teaching computer science a part of my
life whether or not I finally decide to bite the bullett and get a Ph.D.  For the Fall 2003
semester, I am scheduled to teach two courses at Chapman:

CPSC 350 - Data Structures

CPSC 390 - Artificial Intelligence

I also have several research interests I wouldn't mind exploring in more depth,
namely database systems, AI, and knowledge representation.  Maybe some day
I'll get the chance!

Aside from academics, my other hobby is restoring old Porsches.  So far I have restored
a 1973 914 1.7 (below), and a 1969 911 S which had been converted to a '73 RS.

Of course, my favorite hobby is hanging out with my friends and girlfriend, all
of whom are incredibly cool people, and without whom my life would be very boring.

Well, that's about all for now.  For those of you who need to contact me, my email is
