Developed by Dr. Kenneth A. Tye

INTRODUCTION

Welcome. This electronic directory of global education resources for K-12 teachers contains nearly 1,000 entries (many of which link to additional sources). These resources are organized into categories in the Table of Contents shown at the left. Information about the resources was obtained from a questionnaire distributed to educational service providers and from a search of the Internet. In addition, the following written publications and electronic sites were used to gather information about some of the resources listed in this directory:

As the above list of sources suggests, global education is a broad, inclusive field. For the purposes of this directory, it is defined as involving:

 1. The study of problems and issues that cut across national boundaries, and the  interconnectedness of the systems involved---economic, environmental, cultural, political, and technological;

2. The cultivation of cross-cultural understanding, which includes development of the skill of perspective-taking---that is, being able to see life from someone else’s point of view.1
