In the northern part of the tel a row of ten monolithic standing stone pillars called, "matzevot" was disovered. The tallest 3 m. high - stood at its center, oriented north-south. A large, square, stone basin was also found in front of one of the standing stones.
Similar ones with
established dates are found at Hazor and Lachish. Why are these stone pillars here? What could they have been used for? Do they indicate some religious function?
