Six-chambered gateWhat you are now are uncovering appears to be part of massive fortification works. In the Bronze Age the entire tel was surrounded by a massive fortification wall constructed of large blocks of stone 4 m. wide and an earthen rampart 5 m. high. Now you are finding a different type of fortification consisting of a double wall with gates; at the center of the southern wall was the main gate with three pairs of chambers and a central passage between them. A parallel structure likely stood on the other side. Are these the six chambered gates like the ones found at Megiddo and Hazor? Could these be from the same period or even the same builder? What does the Bible say about fortifications in these cities.
