GRADING POLICY

        Mid-term exam .............   50 points
        Final exam ................   50 points
        Homework assignments.......  100 points
        Online discussions.........   10 points maximum, extra credit

EXAMS  You will take the mid-term and final exams online and I will give you 
further information about them as the time approaches.

HOWEWORK ASSIGNMENTS Four times during the semester, you will be assigned
homework with specific deadlines for submission.. You will do the work assigned,
putting the results of your efforts into an email to me, or into an attachment
to an email.  Each homework assignment will be worth a maximum of
25 points; assignments submitted late will lose up to 5 points a day.

PARTICIPATION IN ONLINE DISCUSSIONS In addition to the points you will
earn through homework and the exam, you can earn up to 10 points of extra credit
for your participation in the online discussions In addition to making a contribution,
your participation in online discussions should be respectful of the others
participating.  While disagreements and debates are often productive, personal
attacks are not.  You can learn more about the rules of online communications,

 190 or more points.........  A
 180-189 points.............  A-
 174-179 points.............  B+
 167-173 points.............  B
 160-166 points.............  B-
 154-159 points.............  C+
 147-153 points.............  C
 140-146 points.............  C-
 134-139 points.............  D+
 127-133 points.............  D
 120-126 points.............  D-
 119 or fewer points........  F
