Description
This Hands-On 2-day course is designed to provide
technicians with Hands-On practical experience and understanding of
Inside Plant and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optics also covering Passive
Optic Networks (PON’s) / fiber to the Home/Premise (FTTx) applications.
This course provides the knowledge and skills to help
students design, install, test and maintain ISP, OSP, PONs/FTTx systems.
Upon completion of this course, the student will understand
the following program topics:
- The history of fiber optics & evolution of fiber
systems.
- Fiber optic theory and waveguide functions.
- The three basic elements of fiber optic systems &
discuss their uses.
- Optical Connector Styles and Applications
- Cable Installation Methods as Direct Bury, Aerial and
Ducted
- Emergency Restoration Issues, Future Planning,
Restoration kits
- Safety Practices
- PON Network Design Features
- PON System End Equipment
- Intro to Optical Testing and Troubleshooting.
