Hands On Fiber Optics

Description

This Hands-On 2-day course is designed to provide technicians with Hands-On practical experience and understanding of Inside Plant and Outside Plant (OSP) fiber optics also covering Passive Optic Networks (PON’s) / fiber to the Home/Premise (FTTx) applications.

This course provides the knowledge and skills to help students design, install, test and maintain ISP, OSP, PONs/FTTx systems.

Upon completion of this course, the student will understand the following program topics:

  • The history of fiber optics & evolution of fiber systems.
  • Fiber optic theory and waveguide functions.
  • The three basic elements of fiber optic systems & discuss their uses.
  • Optical Connector Styles and Applications
  • Cable Installation Methods as Direct Bury, Aerial and Ducted
  • Emergency Restoration Issues, Future Planning, Restoration kits
  • Safety Practices
  • PON Network Design Features
  • PON System End Equipment
  • Intro to Optical Testing and Troubleshooting.
