A 16-hour (2-day Sat-Sun or 4-day Mon-Thu)
Fiber-To-The-Premises (FTTP) Passive Optical Networks (PONs) class that
teaches students the topologies used in FTTP/PON networks, and the types
of hardware used in these systems. The class will work as a team to
construct a model advanced FTTP system, using actual cable and hardware
used in typical deployments.
Students will learn how to calculate system loss budgets,
be introduced to hand-held test equipment, and will test and
troubleshoot the system they have constructed in order to understand how
to implement and restore telecommunications network service
connectivity. 10 to 12 students per class and 2 instructors per class
will ensure individual attention and an ideal learning environment.
This is an intermediate to advanced level class so
attending students must have first completed the “Fiber to the Premises:
Introduction to Products and Tools” class or have equivalent experience.
