Events Information
Check-in and Procession Lineup
There is no rehearsal for University College Commencements, so
it is vital that all students check in on time. Food will not
be available at check-in, and students should eat an adequate
meal before they come to lineup to be ready for a long day. Students
should allow ample time to arrive, park, and walk to the check
in location. Late-coming students who arrive after graduate seating
is finalized may not be allowed to participate!
Students must bring academic regalia. Students should avoid bringing
valuables such as purses or packs to the procession lineup, as
they will be obliged to carry them around for the duration of the
ceremony. Security for abandoned items is not provided in lineup
locations or at the ceremony venue.
Students will part from their guests at check-in since friends
and families are not permitted at lineup. Upon arrival at the check-in
and lineup location, each grad will receive a card from the Registrar
that shows the student's name and major. Students must not lose
or damage this card! It is carried onstage by the student to be
handed to the reader. Handwritten additions on this card will not
be read by the reader unless it is a phonetic version to assist
with pronunciation of the student's name.
At lineup, students are given instructions for seating, assigned
by major. Students are required to sit within their major cohort.
Seating within the major group is random so that students may sit
with peers of their choice within their major. If a student is
earning two majors or two degrees, he/she will be assigned to walk
with the first major and/or degree listed in the University's data
system. If the student chooses to walk with the second listed group,
he/she must notify the Registrar's Office of that intention no
later than March 1, 2008.
Tickets
Tickets will not be required for the University College Commencement

No food, beverages, chewing gum, confetti or smoking will be permitted on the field at any time. Bottled water will be provided for grads and faculty, and water stations will be available for guests' comfort.
