Pezzelle values each client and
is active in everything, from the manufacturing to the distribution
of his collection.
“I want my clients to know that my bags are as unique as
they are,” said
Pezzelle.
He begins by hand drawing the patterns for each style of bags.
He carefully selects the fabric and makes sure it will provide the
highest durability to fit the capacity of the clients’ needs.
He then screen prints the non-patterned fabric, such as what is
used on the reversed side of the XL Reversible bag. He then sews
each bag himself.
When Pezzelle first entered the handbag market he hired a seamstress
to sew the bags because he did not know how. He quickly realized
that her productivity was low and the quality of bag was not to
his caliber. So, he learned how to assemble the bags himself and
fired his seamstress. Now he can regulate the quality of his product
better and create them quicker.
Whodini Handmade began as Pezzelle’s screen printing business.
In the beginning he would screen print everything from t-shirts
to wallets. One day he had some extra pieces of fabric left and
sewed them into a handbag; thus his collection began. His lone handbag
evolved into a collection of four different styles, each of which
are adorned in his custom prints. Clients do not have to worry about
seeing his prints on the work of other designers because he gleans
his inspiration from his Long Beach surroundings. The textures,
colors and patterns reflect the melting pot of cultures and socio-economic
classes the city has to offer.
