Chapman University freshman Zio Ziegler transforms to two lives. By day he disguises himself as a graphic design enthusiast, spending hours in his cramped dorm room sketching and painting for his free-lance clothing company, Live Loyal. At night, the 19-year-old dons a hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a backpack full of spray paint cans.

This is the uniform for Ziegler’s other half: the graffiti artist. But he isn’t spray painting gang names on local facades.

Whether legal or illegal, the native Californian is dedicated to creating quality artwork that displays a wide array of influences and themes that appeal to the masses. Ziegler’s main goal is to generate universal respect for diverse and innovative art forms while expressing his own interests and beliefs.

“I want to bring people together with my art…I want it to change people,” Ziegler said. “A huge pillar of what is important to me is respect for all other human beings and everything around you. I tend to hinge my art around those ideas.”

Chapman student Zio Ziegler says good art is important, even if it means the occasional illegal graffiti. Here he shows off some of his art on a ball cap.
