On any given day, Smith talks to students about everything from sexually transmitted diseases, rape crisis, alcoholism and eating disorders.

“Dani has been able to tackle what tended to be uncomfortable issues with grace and professionalism,” senior Meredith White said.

The hustle of working with students is something that Smith enjoys tackling everyday.

“I love working with students-idealistic, filled with life and passion. They help keep me young and open,” Smith said.

Smith also works as a licensed marriage and family therapist. But her primary interest is her students. As the school year comes to a close, Smith finds herself with a mix of emotions, but anxiously awaits the coming year will bring.

“The students are moving on with a great sense of accomplishment, but it is always sad to have them leave,” she said. “I do look forward to the new leaders.”
