Subject or Directory Searching
A subject directory categorizes and organizes Web sites according to the subject. Many of these directories are created by subject specialists. They are usually organized in nested subject lists, so begin by selecting the broad subject category (e.g. law/government) and work your way down to the specific subject category (e.g. Supreme Court opinions.) We Recommend:
Britannica Internet Guide A subject guide to the Internet that provides page summaries and a rating for every site. INFOMINE: A search engine/index of WWW sites. Browse by subject, title or keyword in the following subject areas:
Internet Public Library Created by Librarians, this page provides subject access to Internet sources & a search engine to access them. Open Directory A Web Directory compiled by subject experts. Not as extensive as Yahoo!, but it is quickly growing. Try it! Yahoo! A Web Directory with over 1.2 million listing. Select a subject area and begin! |
