Need help with pagination in Word 2007?
The method below was able to fix a problem that one student was having to prevent page numbers from showing up on the title and signature pages.
Double click on the footer on the very first page.
Up in your ribbon bar at the top, you'll see a design tab.
Check the box that says "Different First Page."
If you still have a page number, then delete it directly from the footer.
So that should take care of the first page.
On the second page, double click (on a committee member name or anything else) to get back into the main content of the page (header and footer editing should disappear).
Up on the ribbon bar, go to the Page Layout tab
Click "Breaks" and select "Next page" from the drop-down to allow for different pagination on the following page OR select "Continuous" to allow for different pagination starting with the page you are on.
Note that within each "Section," you can specify "different first page." You can also set the page numbering to start at a specific number (like "iii").
You may need to repeat this once you get the portion of your document that requires regular numbering.
, on Microsoft's Office.com site is helpful as well.
Are you seeing strange lines in your endnotes that you'd like to get rid of?
Go to page that has line that want to delete.
Click "View" and select "Draft."
Click the "References" tab. Choose "Show Notes" in Footnotes area. The footnote box will open at the bottom of screen. If you contain endnotes in document, endnote box will open. If you have both footnotes and endnotes in document, a pop-up box will allow you to pick which one to edit.
In the drop-down, Choose "Footnote Separator" if you are editing footnote or "Endnote Separator" if you are editing an endnote.
Click on separator line that you want to get rid of. Press "Backspace" key. The separator line will disappear.
Close box by click "X." Click "View" and choose normal document view.
