1. Access the Library catalog online at: http://chapcat.chapman.edu/search~S1
2. Click on the link to search course reserves by either Course Name or Instructor Name.
3. Find the item(s) you wish to check out.
4. Write down the call number of the reserve item(s) you wish to borrow.
5. Reserve items are located behind the Circulation/Reserve Desk. Present your reserve item call number(s) and your Chapman ID at the Reserve desk.
6. Checkout time limits are determined by the professor. Your receipt will indicate the due date and time each item is expected to be returned.

Notes:
• You may borrow a maximum of 3 Reserve items at any given time.
• Your Chapman ID is required for checkout of items. No exceptions.
• $1.00 Overdue fine per hour, per reserve item (audio/visual item, binder, book, dry erase kit, etc.) to a $20.00 maximum late fine per item

1. In order to view and/or print Electronic Reserves, you must have a Library account and course password.
• If you have not set up your library account, please bring your Chapman ID card to the Circulation Desk to have your account created.
• To obtain the course password, please contact your professor.
  Note: Circulation cannot provide course passwords.
2. Log on to your Chapman account from any computer.
3. Go to the library catalog online at: http://chapcat.chapman.edu/search~S1 and click on the link to search course reserves by either Course Name or Instructor Name.
4. Electronic Reserve call numbers will begin with PDF and the item will show “Electronic Copy Available” as the format.
5. Select the item and then enter your name, Chapman ID number (last 7 digits), and course password to access the document. The PDF file will display and you may print (using print credits), view, or save a copy of the document.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain conditions libraries are authorized to furnish photocopied and electronic documents. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
