Borrowing Materials owned by the Leatherby Libraries
- If you request an item that is owned by the Leatherby Libraries and is available for checkout, we will ship it to you via UPS to your address (we cannot ship to P.O. Boxes).
- You can renew materials by logging into “My Library Account” at https://chapcat.chapman.edu/patroninfo~S1/ or by contacting the Brandman Library Assistant at (800) 344-5756 Ext. 1. Items cannot be renewed if they are overdue, and can only be renewed once.
- Items returned late are subject to overdue fees. You will be billed for items that are not returned to the library. All unresolved and/or unpaid charges will be referred to the University Business Office (including an additional referral fee).
Borrowing Materials through Interlibrary Loan
- If you request an item that is not owned by the Leatherby Libraries, we can try to borrow it from another library for you – this is called Interlibrary Loan. Only books and articles can be borrowed through Interlibrary Loan.
- Brandman patrons will need to respond to an e-mail sent to your Brandman University e-mail address to let us know if a request should be processed as an Interlibrary Loan.
- The libraries we borrow these materials from set the due dates for all Interlibrary Loan items.
- Interlibrary Loan items, including textbooks, are meant to be accessed for a limited time – not an entire semester. (See below for more information on textbook requests.)
- Renewal requests for Interlibrary Loan items must be made 3-4 days before the due date. These renewals are approved or denied by the libraries we borrow from.
- Items returned late are subject to overdue fees. You will be billed for items that are not returned to the library. All unresolved and/or unpaid charges will be referred to the University Business Office (including an additional referral fee).
- Recently published and high-demand textbooks are often difficult to obtain through Interlibrary Loan due to limited loan times set by the libraries we borrow from. If you need a textbook for an entire semester, we recommend contacting the Brandman University bookstore to inquire about their textbook rentals. The Brandman University Bookstore can be reached at (877) 912-1202 or brandmanuniversity@bkstr.com.
- Please see our Interlibrary Loan Policies and Billing Information, including borrowing limits at http://www1.chapman.edu/library/ill/illiadpols.html.

Borrower Responsibility
Brandman University patrons are responsible both physically and financially for all items checked out on their card. Brandman University patrons are responsible for all fines, fees, replacement costs and charges which may result from overdue returns, damaged, lost, lost in transit, or stolen items, including those obtained by Interlibrary Loan. Library accounts are not transferable. It is the responsibility of the Brandman University patron to be aware of the due dates for all library materials checked out.
