Instruction

We encourage faculty to bring their classes to Special Collections to use our materials. If you would like to teach your class using Special Collections or University Archives materials, we’re happy to assist you in locating resources.

Special Collections will provide bibliographic instruction to Chapman University classes on request. We offer general instruction on how to use the collections; on specific themes such as the history of the book, book binding and formats, authors and historical periods as well as research methods. We also offer general tours of Special Collections and its holdings.

Instruction sessions may be arranged by faculty or students by contacting us or their subject liasion librarian. Sessions may be scheduled for regular class meeting times or as an additional class. Due to the amount of work in creating a tailored instruction session, it is important to plan ahead and schedule a session as far in advance as possible.

Staff in Special Collections also mentor students through their individual subject area expertise and internship opportunities to enhance their education experience. If you are interested in scheduling an instruction session, tour or are interested in our internships please contact us.
