| All Chapman University freshmen begin their Chapman
"Education
of Distinction" with one semester of a Freshman Foundations
Course (FFC). The FFC program provides the foundation on which you
can build a successful educational experience.
Taught by a select group of faculty
who are interested in helping you make a smooth transition to university
life, FFC explores the foundations of Western thought as a significant
source of contemporary culture. The course emphasizes critical thinking,
writing, and oral communications skills and introduces the Chapman
emphasis on a value-centered education.
While FFC faculty teach the course from many perspectives,
all address fundamental issues in ethics and morality and encourage
your ability to use ethical analysis and moral reasoning in the
pursuit of a more just and humane world. Must be taken for a letter
grade.
Successful completion of this course fulfills your
general education
requirement for the Foundations
of Western Thought area.
