Wendy
Salmond heads the art history program at Chapman, where she is Associate
Professor in the Art Department. Born in New Zealand and a graduate of the University
of Texas, at Austin, she is a specialist in Russian art. Since her first trip
to the former Soviet Union in 1981, she has returned numerous times, as a tour
leader and lecturer. Her book, Arts and Crafts in Late Imperial Russia,
was published by Cambridge University Press in 1996. Dr. Salmond is a prolific
translator, and she is currently researching a book on Russian icons in American
collections. In 1995-96 she was Visiting Curator at Hillwood Museum in Washington,
