316 Principles of Management
Prerequisite,
junior or senior standing. Contemporary knowledge in management
designed to improve managerial skills. Focuses on the three primary
tasks of managers: managing strategy, managing structure, and managing
behavior. Develops skills in strategic planning, organization design,
motivation, leadership, decision making, and implementing change.

346 Production and Operations Management
Prerequisites,
Mgsc 208, 309; Mgmt 316. Study of the production/operations
management function. Topics include operations strategy, forecasting,
inventory control, scheduling, queuing theory, project management,
facilities layout, and quality assurance. The focus of this class
will be on problem solving. Computer software will be used extensively.

435 Management of Entrepreneurial Enterprises
Prerequisites,
Mgmt 316, and either Mktg 200 or 304. This seminar introduces
students to the basic activities required to successfully manage
an entrepreneurial enterprise. Topics include generating entrepreneurial
ideas, assessing the potential of new ventures, developing business
plans, attracting capital, and taking a business public. In addition,
legal issues associated with new ventures will be discussed. 3 credits.

Prerequisite,
Mgmt 316. Discussion and critical analysis of human resource
issues confronted by management, including recruitment and selection,
orientation, training, and compensation of employees. 3 credits.

470 International Business Management
Prerequisites,
Econ 200, 201; Mktg 304; Mgmt 316. Approved as a cross-cultural
course. A course of study designed to examine the role of business
firms in the international business environment. The thrust of the
course is to study the environmental relationships, cultural and
political impacts, and the effects on the community of nations as
the international business community grows and spreads. Specific
management problems that are inherent in multinational activities
are of prime importance. (Offered spring semester.) 3 credits.

480 Human Behavior in Organizations
Prerequisite,
Mgmt 316. This course explains the use of theories of individual
and group behavior to solve organizational problems. Cases are used
to provide experience applying the theories to business situations.
The influences of the organizations environment, technology,
and culture on management decision making are also examined. (Offered
spring semester.) 3 credits.
