Abstract

In this exploratory study, secondary teacher education students in a variety of subject fields examined digital learning games as a way to facilitate classroom instruction. They reviewed and then taught games to small groups of middle or high school students, and finally presented them to peers in a college course. Candidates provided written reviews of game titles and recorded observations of student game play. Results revealed candidates’ emergent understanding of digital games as instructional facilitators. They identified factors that contributed to their positive and negative views for using specific games for learning purposes. Descriptions and URLs of games are reported.

Results revealed candidates’ emergent understanding  roles as  instructional facilitator and their generally positive attitudes about classroom game use.
