Abstract This paper describes an innovative program created to improve the student teaching field experience. The program utilizes a web-based course management system that houses electronic delivery of instruction and submission of work, templates for cooperating teacher observations, telecommunication tools accessible to all members of the student teaching triad, and a lesson planning electronic performance support system. Developed on a cognitive apprenticeship model, all three members of the triad participate in the program. Triad members reported that the program enhanced the field experience as evidenced by increased quality of lesson plan development, community support, and professional growth. Implications for teacher education are discussed. |
